MBSA v2.1.1 will not install on Windows 7 Enterprise

I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit and I have downloaded MBSA v2.1.1
from the following link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b1e76bbe-71df-41e8-8b52-c871d012ba78&displaylang=en

but it will not install. Instead if generates the following error message:

"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.
This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738."

I have downloaded the program several times to ensure that the package is
not corrupt, and it downloads successfully each time. The file appears to me
to be okay.

If this is not the correct file to install for my environment, is there a
link to the proper download?

Is there anything else I need to do to install this (i.e., settings or
configuration)? I am running with an account that has admin permissions.

Thanks,

Randall Price

I'll ask the obvious question - did you download the x64 version rather than
the x86 version?

I agree with Jerry.

The URL you posted leads to both x86 and x64 versions of MBSA.

Which did you download? Have you tried the other?

This usually indicates the VBScript is corrupt, unregistered or potentially
fouled up by malware. To resolve this, from a command-prompt, consider
going to the C:\Windows\system32 directory and running

REGSVR32.EXE VBSCRIPT.DLL

To re-register VBScript - which is required due to custom install actions in
the MBSA installer. If you're on a 64-bit platform, also change to the
C:\Windows\SysWOW64 directory and repeating the command

REGSVR32.EXE VBSCRIPT.DLL

Let me know if that helps. Thank you.
